I connected everything according to the instructions and yet I can't connect to the internet. I remember using the same router in another house and it worked perfectly yet with my new dsl service, it does not. Help 🙁

More information dude... like can you log into the router? do you get an IP address? do you get an error message? is the room filling with blue smoke? etc.

okay lol

I can log into the router and there is an IP address. Windows states that there is a connection but when I open up a browser(IE,FF, and Opera), I can't seem to be able to connect to a website. I'm trying to connect through the router via ethernet. I've updated the ethernet drivers, disabled firewall, and probably did some other things which I don't remember and none of them work. Oh and the status lights on the router do show that its functioning properly(if they can be trusted) I'm also using windows xp home sp2(can't uninstall for some reason).

Do you have DSL or cable? Do you have a seperate modem or is it built into the router?

If you can connect to the router it's not a problem with the PC so you can stop playing with the drivers and stuff. Look at your PPPoE (or whatever) settings on the router.

Its a serperate modem and I have dsl. But thanks for the advice on the PPPoE, I didn't really mess with that stuff yet.

You're not trying to put your user/pass etc into some software on your PC are you? If so, i already answered your question here like an hour ago.

Well not originally, when I found that no solutions worked, I gave in and used the netgear cd...I have wirelessly networked some houses before so I do kinda know what I'm doing but I'm far from an expert...
