No Internet Connection...Wired Home Network..

we have a home wired network (linksys router wired throughout the house) and my daughter's pc a couple of days ago stopped connecting to the internet. there's still a green light by the cat 5 going into the pc, we've tried using all the windows xp diagnostics (says the nic card is working normally), tried disabling and fixing the connection all to no avail. we get the yellow triangle with an exclamation point saying we have little or no connectivity--and it can't get an ip address.

somehow this feels like the pc reconfigured something and now can't get onto the net. there have been no hardware or software changes in the last few days, we just lost connectivity. everywhere else in the house things are connected perfectly.

any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated. thanks in advance....

The exclamation point is telling you it cant pull an IP. The easy way to test it is to drag it over near the router and plug it in to a different port with a different cable and see if you can access the internet.

I have a Linksys router with the #4 port that just refuses to work, but I have only seen it on our production Cisco routers otherwise.

How about your non-Internet LAN access between that computer and others? If that is no-go, she could have a bad NIC or a corrupted network setting.
