No Intel vs. AMD Threads in GH...what about ATI vs. nVidia?

I appreciate the recent ban on Intel vs. AMD threads in GH, but I wonder if a similar ban on ATI vs. nVidia might not be in order. I use both types of cards, and like to be in discussions about features, bugs, performance, etc., but no matter what the topic of a thread is it always turns into an "us vs. them" fight. For instance, reference this thread about nv35 pictures. It started out with just a discussion on the merits of having a 2 PCI slot cooling solution, but them someone who claims to work for ATI came in and lit the match. And this is what happens every time. I can't remember the last time there was an ATI or nVidia thread where someone didn't come in and start spouting off. Just my $.02.

Why do people even compare the two?
Have you seen all the problem threads with ATI ;)

Couldn't resist it.

My ATI cards are all working just fine, thank you very much.

<-- enjoying the fine 2D IQ of his ATI cards, in contrast to... ;)

Edit: Yes, I think ATI vs. Nvidia "Debates" should be banned like Intel vs. AMD ones.

Sometimes they are helpful topics if users don't know much about the two. It's unfortunate when people can't play nice though.

That's the problem though...they NEVER stay civilized. No matter what they start out as, it always ends up as a "ATI sux0rs" or "nVidia 0wnz ATI" thread.

Yeah send those with ATI problems to rage3d. That seems like a good place for ati info.
Nvidia isn't supposed to have problems so don't know where to send them ;) ;)

A well needed bump.

1) n00blArs posting "OMFG nVidia is teh cheatx0r!"
2) n00blArs posting "OMFG ATI is teh cheatx0r"
3) Anything with both "nVidia" and "ATI" in the title

Can we at least get a temporary moratorium on ATI vs nVidia - and see how it goes?

they all suck, get a 3dfx voodoo 5 5500! ;) ;)

Actually just showing my support for the temporary ban on these threads. It gets old after a while.

ATI is SUCK LOL! nVidia is and will remain KING OF THE GAME!

BTW, the above was just as an example from a typical ATI-nvidia thread.

Plese get rid of em.. every single one turns into a flamefest.

Both are good, both make products that can run anything. There ya go.. problem solved. :p

The thing is, I don't want to ban ALL threads having to do with ATI or nVidia, just ones where people are going off about how much one or the other sucks. It's nice to be able to ask for help with a card, but not when the only answer you get is "buy a different card"

Yeah, no "ATI Sucks, nVidia RULEZ JOO" (or other way round) threads would be good.

If there is a sensible discussion going on about the merits of a new card compared to another, then anyone who flames either one should recieve a vacation IMO.

Not a very good case in point. So far this thread is VERY tame compared to what it could be, or what it might be.

The occasional reference to the other product is OK, but there (so far) hasn't been "Never. ATI SUX0R5" posts, which is the norm once ATI drivers are mentioned!
