No image on screen at boot

My comp "boots" and keep the fans running but won't show anything on the monitor (whose LED flashes as in idle mode), and apparently it doesn't get to the Windows 7 login screen either since there's no welcome sound.

It was working last night before I turned it off. The box itself keeps running until manually shut down so it shouldn't be the PSU, right? The Asus P8P67's POST state LEDs are off for CPU, RAM and GPU, but the Boot Device one is on which indicates an error there. But seeing as you can get an image and go into BIOS without an HDD, that shouldn't be the whole problem. Any ideas? No crashes last night to indicate any kind of overheating.

Sounds like it is hung up in the POST process, . . . like it can't find something it needs. So it just sits there.

Try clearing the cmos. Are you overclocked at all? Did you set your ram timings manually?

If you get back into the bios, load failsafe defaults.

Clear your cmos and or pull the battery out for a few minutes.

I unplugged the power cables and put in a 4-pin PC speaker. For some reason it started working then (previous to failed attemps I had also reset the CMOS via the external button). I got to a screen I'd never seen before, then into BIOS. Chose some kind of boot device and got shoved into a Windows boot menu. Picked normal Win7 start instead of problem solving, then got to the login screen followed by desktop.

No idea what would cause this or if it'll happen again.
