no ide conections now

I took the hhd outta one computer and put it in another one , both computers had been working , just wanted to put bigger hhd in . it booted fine , but then rebooted , did it 2 more times , now it wont find my hhd or cd-rom drive at all . it .i went into cmos and clicked on auto detect ...nothing , tried 2 other hhd's ...nothing . tried bios update ...nothing ..
if these controlers are now dead , is there a card i can put in to use as hhd and cd controllers ? This is on a packard bell p166

I just said it was a packard bell so some people would get their kicks ....it is really a hewlett packard

More info - the computer you took the HD out of or the computer you put the HD into?

the hd come outta a packard bell , and was put into a hewlett packard

Got it going ...I bought and installed a SIIG enhanced bios card with ide connections , and it fixed it ...cost $5.00 including shipping , better that chunking the ol thing
