So my water stopped being hot and I went down to check it out. Turns out a leaky pipe above the water heater had dripped on it and put it out. I fixed the leaky pipe but i cant get the propane water heater started again. It's fairly new but I'm worried the water dripping on it did some damage. I was able to get the pilot light going but when I turned the heater knob up I heard the traditional whoosh, unfortunately instead of it turning on the pilot light went out and nothing else happened. Anyone got any ideas?

I held it on for a minute like it says.
Almost sounds like gas pressure blowing it out but I've never heard of that on a residential unit.
Make sure all is dry and clean and try again?

What is the make/model of your water heater? Most have several components, thermostat, pilot assembly, solenoid etc.
