my speakers unfortunately don't have a headphone jack, something I'm not realizing I would have great use for. I'm figuring I could just plug headphones directly into my sound card when I need them, but that would be a pain considering that my tower's on the ground and my current headphones won't reach anyway. is there a way I can connect both my speakers and my headphones to the sound card (an sblive! 5.1) and be able to pick which one to use as output? thanks for any suggestions

Yep, go to Radio Shack and get a 1/8" miniplug y-jack splitter thing. So on one end, you'll have a male stereo 1/8" plug, and on the other two female stereo jacks. You should be able to get one of these with a 6' or so wire between each end, which should work fine. If not, look around and see what other cables they have - I'm sure you'll find something that works there :)

you can also goto creative's website Creative, and order a "Live Drive" it takes up a 5 1/4" slot in the front of your drive bay, but it gives you speaker access, headphones, volume control, (option for remote too)

However, it comes at a hefty price...$129. It's the same equipment that ships with any Platinum card.
