No HDMI Audio output

I have a Asus P5N-EM HDMI and from what I understand it should output audio through HDMI. For the life of me I cannot get it to work. I previously had HDMI run to my TV with a 3.5mm to dual RCA for the audio, but now that I have a new TV, it doesn't have that option, just HDMI or VGA/3.5mm. Image quality is much better with HDMI vs VGA so if I can switch back to HDMI I'd love it.

Any thoughts? I'm running Windows 7 Pro SP1 with the latest audio drivers...

check and make sure its the default playback device...contrl panel->sound->playback->hdmi output->right click set as default.

Ive had times where the video would output over HDMI but not the audio even if it's set as the default playback. Disabling/Enabling the HDMI out audio usually fixes it. Typically just wonky driver issues.

Sometimes there will be a generic HDMI audio device in the Sound section of Control Panel, with a separate HDMI device listed for the TV or AVR (e.g. Panasonic G10 HDMI). Check to make sure the TV HDMI device is the default, not the generic HDMI device.
