Well they are the same people who re-elected Nancy Pelosi. Why does this not surprise me?

It's not enough, we need to have fast food cards that you have to renew each year. Nobody under the age of 21 shall have a hamburger without proper licensing. You must have a BMI of at most 25 before you can eat junk food. That will show 'em

It's funny that they pass this shit while yelling and demonizing McDonalds and other fast food places, but it's completely the customers choice to use those places. I mean McDonalds isn't going around forcefully herding people up and making them buy Happy Meals for their kids. Parents are deciding to do that on their own. So the gubment demonizes McDonalds then strips people of their rights. Both McDonalds rights to sell what they want and the citizens right to choice, a basic freedom. Pretty fucking miserable, then again San Fran is fucking terrible and only terrible hippie douche bags and the kind that like them live there.

"We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on, you know, 72 degrees at all times and -- whether we're living in the desert or we're living in the tundra, and then just expect that every other country is going to say, okay, you know you guys go ahead and keep on using 25% of the world's energy, even though you only account for 3% of the population, and we'll -- we'll be fine, don't worry about us. That's not leadership."

- Barack Obama

Just part of the Democrat agenda. Progressives have Kim il-Sung/Jung-il syndrome - they are self-proclaimed experts on literally everything. There is nothing, from macro economic theory to what your child eats for lunch, about which they do not consider themselves so much better qualified that their wishes should supersede your own by law. This madness merely spreads outward from San Francisco to cover the entire land in its shadow.

Kalifornia Uber Alles

How ironic that this happens just as Jerry Brown is elected governor again.

Yep.

Folks, the Democrats and American Left is ANYTHING but "liberal." They are authoritarian elitists who seek to control just about every aspect of your private life EXCEPT the two political hot button issues that get them elected (Gay rights and abortion).

Irrelevant. It's the same thing. It's a ban on packaging the food the left deems "evil" in a way that is attractive to kids.

This. I stopped ordering happy meals when I stopped caring about the toys. After that I started ordering the Big Mac which has like 3x as many calories as a single cheeseburger.

Yeah, it's all McDonald's fault that parents buy their kids Happy Meals to get them the toy.

I'm really enjoying how few people actually read the article.

How many comments of "now they will just buy adult meals HURRRR" are we going to get?

As for the people hating on it, I doubt San Francisco cares. It is one of the most economically successful cities in the US, along with being a huge cultural and tourism center.

While this is just silly, I must point out that what they hope to do is force the fast food chains to improve their meals to continue to offer toys with them. What and how much people want to eat should be up to them, too bad the way our medical system works the results of their choices costs us.

Isn't it ironic that those that are complaining the loudest that we must specifically block Sharia law from "infiltrating" our laws to keep the Mooslims from gettin' their Jihad on are now stating that it is freaking corporate America's institutional right to get whining kids to bug the shit out of their parents for a 700 calorie/27g fat/88 carb/31g sugar lunch just to get the latest Shrek toy.

Let's play devil's advocate here....

Which one do you really think will do more short/long term damage to our country, having restaurants have to stop promoting slop that isn't fit for pigs by trying to bride kids or telling two adults that they can legally enter into a contractual agreement to have a dispute decided upon specific ground rules as long as they entered into it under their own volition?

Oh, to add a little more, maybe we should just let restaurants serve whatever they want? After all, before they were forced by government mandates, you used to get all kinds of good stuff like:

e. coli
salmonella
botulism

Unless you think that the government (city/state/fed) has no right to regulate any part of a business, then this one has very little difference than telling food providers that they have to met certain cleanliness and preparation guidelines to be able to peddle their wares.
