I know it has been less than a week but I wonder how long it will take the GTX/ultra cards to start coming down in price. Just looking on newegg there is only 1 card (before MIR) that is close to the 3870x2 price. Since its clear in most situations that the 3870x2 is beating these cards I wonder why manufacturers have not dropped the price yet. Are they waiting for the 9800 line up? I mean even the 8800GT/GTS (G92) cards are close or better in performance to the GTX/ultra cards. IMO there is no reason to purchase a GTX or ultra until the price comes down. I think a good price right now for the GTX/ultra would be $350-400 for the GTX and $425-450 for the ultra.

they will drop in price when people would no longer want to buy them, that is, when you would no longer care how much they cost cause something better is around. Like the GF9.

Also manufacturers have stopped making the ultra a while ago. Its just leftover stock.

And the GTX and Ultra are the ONLY cards you can use in tri sli, which gives rise to an extra premium in price.
