no "green" on new lcd?

I just got myself an LG lcd monitor. I'm trying to get it to some good settings since the standard ones seem odd. I've played around with all the brightness, contrast, colors, etc...but I've noticed something kind of odd. The blues are VERY blue, regardless of where they are set (even zero). The other thing is adjusting the green level seems to do absolutely nothing. Greens are being portrayed as black/gray (like the start button in windows XP. Reds coming out kind of orange but thats not as bad. Any suggestions to what's going on / how to fix it?

Your VGA cable might be bad.

Yeah, it sounds like one of the colors isn't getting through. Are you using the a or DVI cable?

well, i'm not too familiar with the lingo for lcd monitors...but it's plugged into the back of my x800xl (dvi?). the connection on both ends is tight.

simple way to clarify this one:

is the connector blue (D-sub19)

or white (DVI-D)

edit 1: well, as stupid as it sounds, i flipped the cable around and now it works. go figure.
thanks to those that replied.

edit 2: well maybe not. i left the room for a minute, when i came back, the screen flickered twice and went back to how it was....strange

edit 3: alright i played around with the ends and loosened a pin a bit and now its working again. I might just go get a new cable if this keeps up. I guess I'll consider this resolved.

Sounds like a bad cable connection to me. Maybe you should get a new cable to try, if it doesn't work, you can always return the extra cable to the store. If the monitor has a DVI connection, I would try a DVI cable.

yeah, DVI is better, but even now it is rare, unless you pay extra to get a better 16 ms or lower moniter, and even then it isn't always a feature...luckily my X73 has 1 DVI and 2 Dsub.....too bad it has 3 dead pixels (sony is replacing it though, I don't even have to pay shipping :Q)
