This thread reminded me of something that happened last Thursday night, kind of made me lose a bit more faith in mankind.

I was leaving Office Depot Thursday Night and noticed a wallet laying in the parking lot. I wander over to see whats up. I pick up a womans wallet look inside and there is a phone number of the owner. I didnt have my cell phone so I drove across the mall lot to a gas station (never realized how hard pay phones are too find now the cell phones are so popular) and spent 35 cents to call the number. Well the lady wasnt there, but I got a number where she would be.......good enough.

I spend another 35 cents to call that number, tell her I found her wallet and I am by the Office Depot at the Conoco. She says can you wait I will come and get it. I say, yeah but hurry I have to be somewhere soon (Mom and Dad buying steak dinner, I am not passing it up) I wait 30 freekin minutes on her to drive up there, I am getting later to meet Mom & Dad by the minute.

She whips in and runs to my truck I hand her the wallet, she says thanks and stuff, then says here let me give you a reward. She looks in her wallet and surprise.......surprise.....no money, no credit cards.

She gets an odd look on her face, then guess who get accused of swiping her crap......you guessed it........she accused me of stealing her crap.

I lost it, I went on a huge rant about spending my freekin money to call her and waitin 30 minutes on her to show up and ripped her a new one. The whole time she is screaming at me for stealing her crap. I finally just got in my truck and told her to call the cops, she was welcome to get my tag number when I left.

Has everyone lost their mind these days?

That really stinks that she had such poor manners, maybe she was just so freaked out about her cc's being missing that she lost good sense.

people like that really piss me off, mature individuals are able to control their emotions a little better than that.

After telling my wife and some friends about it at dinner Sat night, they threw out the theory that she was probably mentally unstable to begin with. And basically I was lucky her psycho b/f or whatever wasnt with her, or I would have ended up like the guy in the other thread.

What an idiot that lady was. Why in the world would you steal her stuff and then call her to give her the wallet back?

don't let your anger at her overshadow the fact that you did the right thing. You're absolutely right in that she was way off-base to accuse you, but who knows, she could have had a thousand dollars in there or something. It really sucks that she didn't give you the gratification you deserved to hear after taking time out of your day to do that, but consider that she might be sitting at home feeling bad for going off on you--or maybe not, but all that matters is that you did the right thing.

Good for you!
