As for this whole "What about racism" thing. Well, that is something of an outdated argument, because the whole point of a freemarket country is to get as many customers or patrons, so it would be to that establishment's own detriment to exclude a certain segment of the population.

However, this is something more of a social private place, in which case it's an exclusive area in the first place, so who knows?

Either way, it's owned by a private party, the party should have the freedom to do what it wants as long as it is not infringing on any basic rights, such as the right to not be cut down with a battleaxe.

No, he is right. Again, it is easy to say this if you are not the one being discriminated against and/or you are looking at it as a scenario where only one establishment out of several hundred or even several thousand in your area choose to do such a thing, but this is like Pandora's box. It is ridiculously hard to close once it is opened and gets out of control. People get used to such behavior being ok and it takes generations to change that regardless of laws. History has already shown us that this is not a good idea. Do not repeat past mistakes needlessly. That is very foolish.

Generally, no they can't if it's a place of public accommodation. Private clubs can discriminate, but i don't think charging a $.01 lifetime membership fee would work. Justice is blind, but it isn't stupid.

LOL, this entire situation reminds me of a club i've heard about in DC where the only entrance in is a very slim door, if you can't fit through it you can't get in!

I gotta agree with this. Myself and a bunch of people that was late to a club once waited in line for over an hour. We were at the front of the line with a ton of people behind us. After losing my patience, I asked the bouncer what the deal was, and he was like "we've reached max capacity, and have to wait for people to leave to let more in". I'm like, man, you couldn't tell me that an hour ago when I first reached the front of the line?

At least it was a club at the Casino though. We left the joint, went to gamble, and won a few hundred on the slots. So we decided to head up to Toronto for a late late night jam at Guvernments, and had a hell of a time.

At least the fat girls didn't have to wait in line.

Wow, i knew they thought it, but I didn't think they'd have the balls to say it.

I think the business they lose from obese clients will be over weighed by the increase in business they get from everybody else.
