Never thought I'd say it, but I agree with Pat. Infact, Pat sounds downright reasonable compared to the crazies running our foreign policy.

Goddammit. Pat Buchanan is right and expresses a lot of the things I have been saying. Hell truly is freezing over.

Pat has always held a few positions that are way out there, but on the whole the guy is quite brilliant and would make a decent President.

It's easy to sound smart by utterly destroying an idiots arguments :)

Not to take anything away from Pat, but I don't know a single person who agrees with the ideas put forth in that book.

OMFG, I was going to start a thread about war that hits on this issue. My conclusion would've been that so long as there are two men on earth, there will always be conflict. Vigilance would be the answer.

EDIT: I posted an article about neocons from The Economist not too long ago. In the end, it stated that they didn't have that much influence. In the end, there may be a major shakeup because Centrists and conservatives will want to re-gain control of the Republican Party and White House.

Dari, "vigalence would be the answer."

About the only thing Reagan ever said with which I agree is, "Trust, but verify."

While many here may agree that Perle and other neoconservaties are a little obsessed with Israel, why does everyone forget that Iraqi liberation was official American policy after Clinton signed it into law.

BTW, while I have no doubt that these neocons will be weeded out of this Administration, what's to stop them from hijacking the Democratic Party, from which they came? There are a lot of them and few here have forgotten how they were planning to run the Gore presidency, had he won.

Dari, don't think for a moment about providing a link. Especially no need to provide backup for

"neocons will be weeded out of this Administration, what's to stop them from hijacking the Democratic Party, from which they came?"

Dari, there are only so many ones and zeros in the world. Messages like yours waste them.

Nah, it's just refreshing to hear an Authentic and Intelligent "Conservative" POV.

...was official American policy

What exactly does this mean? Yes, I know about the Act that was passed, but what exacly does 'official American policy' mean?

Ummm... Actually he isn't an "authentic" Conservative. He's a hardline protectionist and part of the Religious right. But sure, you are more than welcome to see him as intelligent and whatnot but you have to realize that he's not breaking any new ground with this and he's certainly not joining the left. Becareful who you praise;)

I didn't realize that being a protectionist religous bigot was an "authentic onservative" POV...thanks for filling me in ;)

"The new ~but mantra: If someone supports your argument in anyway, it's quoteable and intelligent!"

What would have Pat's response been to 9/11? Probably would have closed all the borders entirely to all non-whites.

Well, when an act or resolution is passed in Congress, it becomes either American law or policy. The "official" part is a no-brainer.

Here's a link for you, witling.

"We're going to bring back God and the Bible and drive the gods of secular humanism right out of the public schools of America"

"The poor homosexuals -- they have declared war upon nature, and now nature is extracting an awful retribution."

"Promiscuous homosexuals appear literally hell-bent on Satanism and suicide."

PB Even scares a right wing neocon like myself!

Ok, so it becomes policy. But my question is...

"What does that mean?"

No, I'm not being 'funny'. I seriously want to know what it means. Obviously, you're not suggesting that because it was our 'policy', we were justified in doing what we did.
