No duh...isn't that the point? Norton SysWorks securtiy scan

Well, my rig has "hiccuped" tonight, so I was playing around with Norton System Works. I got into the "Symantec Web" area and dedcided to click on "Scan you system for security risks" thinking it was kind of like a DSLReports port/security scan.

So, I click and it opens IE and takes me to their site. Button says "click here to start securtity scan". Cool. I click and here's what I got:

The Symantec Security Check has determined that the Internet Protocol (IP) address used by your computer to connect to the Internet cannot be scanned. This is usually a result of being behind a firewall, proxy server, or using Network Address Translation (NAT) to share IP addresses. Unfortunately we will be unable to run the Network Vulnerability Scan, the NetBIOS Availability Scan, and the Active Trojan Horse Scan on this computer.
Select Continue to complete the remaining scans that do not need an IP address.

No Duh Sherlock...isn't that the whole point of being behind a hardware firewall? Am I just being stupid here or am I missing something or is this post pointless? I laughed HARD when I got this message...just thought I'd share. Later.

Well, yeah, it's good, but not really. A REAL internet-savvy security site like DSLReports picks up my IP in about .0002 seconds...so my IP is far from invisible. My ports give no response (very good thing).

What just kills me is that Symantec is supposed to be the Schiznit PC security company and they can't even see my IP? **Faith swirling down drain as he types**

Yup, your right about that. I can go to Speedguide.net and they can tell me my IP in less than half a second. My ports are secure though, that is a good thing.
