?No drive entries found!? When I Boot PC

I just used a disk defragmenting utility that, in addition to defragging the regular files on the hard drive, can also defrag the paging file, metadata, master file table, and hibernate file at boot up.

After it defragged all of these files, my PC now gives me a messages for about 3 seconds everytime I boot up that says:

?No drive entries found!?

After this message flashes for 3 seconds on a plain blue background (it's the Windows background, not the BSOD), my system boots up fine and everything works normally. Check Disk is not finding any HD errors either.

Does anyone have any clue as to what this message means? Thanks for any feedback!

Steve, I have got exactly the same problem, Iv'e searched high and low for an answer and have come up empty handed. I have also used a disk defragmenting utility that defrags on bootup called "Raxco Perfectdisk" (could be the problem).

If anyone has any feedback, it would be much appreciated.

Yep, I also use PerfectDisk by Raxco and that's when I noticed the problem (after doing the bootup defrag). However, the message doesn't show up anymore, so maybe Windows figured it out or something?

Do you get this message everytime you boot up? Mine came up like 3 or 4 times but now it's gone. If so, you should contact Raxco to see if they can help.

Yeah Steve it comes up everytime i boot, probably for the last week or so. But Iv'e been using perfectdisk for years and never had this problem before. I checked Raxco's troubleshooting on their website but to no avail.

mabye i should send them an email.

thanks mate

Sure, no problem...I would definitely contact Raxco if I were you. When you bought PerfectDisk did you buy the support option? I think it was an extra $8 or something but it gives you one year of tech support for free.

You might try running Check Disk just for kicks to see if that might fix the problem. I think it's just a configuration issue. It doesn't seem to be affecting the performance of the system at all (it didn't with me anyway).

Good luck and let me know what happens!

I was facing the same problem. Apparently, Raxco forgot to check this bug in their programming where the boot time defrag forgets to remove itself when you uncheck the option.
Look for,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager] in registry and

look for the value
BootExecute

PD is located in the first line of this value. Remove it. leave the autocheck autochk * as it is.
Reboot.
That should take care of the problem.

Also, similar problems found with other boot time defrag programs.

Okay, I found this value and it reads: PDBoot.exe autocheck autochk *

Do I just delete the "PD" and leave the "Boot.exe autocheck autochk *" as it is?

Thanks again for your input!

also about the reboot, you don't have to right away, just you won't see the message when you reboot the next time.

Cool, thanks jst. it worked a charm.

Cant believe a company like Raxco can have bugs like that. Where is quality control?

Thanks again guys.
