No Display on Monitor

Hello, I'm new to these forums.

My Dell Dimension 5100 stopped working after a power outage. I was assuming it had something to do with a power surge, hence destroying the PSU.

Just a few hours ago, I took the time to take the power supply out and replace it with another one. I've encountered a few issues though.

1.) No display on monitor (Generic Dell Flatscreen Monitor).
- The monitor is functional (tested it with my other desktop).
- Motherboard light is solid green
- Fans work
- Optical Drive works (can push the button so that the place where you insert disk comes out, also blinks green)
-When the monitor is unplugged from the computer, it is solid green with the "self-test" interface bouncing around
-As soon as I plug it to the computer, the green light on the monitor turns into orange/amber (blank screen)

2.) The power button on the front isn't functioning properly, or at all.

- No light
- Cannot turn the computer on/off (The only way I can turn the computer on/off is at the back switch of the newly installed PSU)

In addition, I do not hear any beeps.

I hope someone will be able to help. Thanks in advance!

I actually tried a different motherboard (ASUS P5N73-AM) and I get the same result. No display.

Maybe I'm plugging the wires in the wrong places..?

Video card would be my second guess. And I don't think you can boot off a different motherboard with a hard drive that has the original MB chipset drivers, etc installed.
