No display on boot up

Hey I got my computer to keep going finally, but its not sending anything to the monitor, I tried another graphics card but it did the exact same thing... any help appreciated

Are you getting any beeps during the POST? If not, I'd check the memory. If you are getting some pattern of beeps, I'd consult the motherboard manual to see what it's about. Hope this helps.

originally when powered on it would power off automatically after 2-3 seconds. I took off my heatsink and put more arctic silver 3 on it and reseated the heat sink and now it stays on, just no data gets sent to the monitor

So now I am getting one short beep which means that it should be working correctly but... I can't see anything on the monitor.... grr

If Windows on it try booting up in safemode and lowering the Video Card resolution... Right click destop and then Properties.

Also fiddle with the Video settings in bios.
