Hi there.

I have a problem with a new system recently put togetther. It is as follows:

Asus A7N266-VM
AMD Duron 1.1GHz
Enlight MATX tower (150W psu)
128MB 184DIMM PC2100 NP CL2.5
40Gb IBM Deskstar 120
52x CD-ROM
AMD Radial Fin

I am using the onboard audio and video.

On the first power up no signal is being sent to the monitor, which just remains blank (in sleep mode).

The lights on the motherboard work, the fans are going, and the HD is making some noise. I can't think whether this would be a dead CPU or maybe a faulty motherboard problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

The jumper has been set to DRAM 133MHz and CPU 133MHz. Are these the correct values. I have also tried swapping the memory stick for one I know works and the problem is still the same. I am going to order a new CPU and see if that makes a difference.

I just put a A7N266-VM together monday night and didn't bother to check the manual before trying to boot barebones  Fortunately my 1ghz Morgan booted@1.33ghz long enough to show the FSB speed then froze when trying to enter the bios. I then RTFM :p and to set CPU 100mhz, RAM 133MHZ just move both jumpers over 1 pin so they are both on 2-3 instead of 1-2 ;) BTW, it's a nice little board but installing the drivers under win98se(only OS I had left :( ) was suck! I had to install every driver manually, even the 3 ram controllers :frown: and when I downloaded the updates the auto installer/extracter said it was for ME only so I had to manually install them all again

I'm sure with XP it would have been like butter. Also, I only had 1 256mb stick of Crucial 2100DDR left for it so I'm not even gettin' the little boost the dual channel would give. My 1 question is that in the bios you can set it for overclocking the on-board grphics, but I'm not sure if they mean with Powerstrip or NVMax or what?

Thanks everyone. I didn't realise that the Duron have to be set to 100MHz FSB. I have changed the jumpers and it now works perfectly.

I have also changed the DRAM jumper to 100MHz. Should I have left it at 133MHz?

By the way, installing the drivers was very easy, like you said DAPUNISHER.

Thanks again.

dude that's my EXACT SAME problem!! I just built it tonight with a duron 950, maxtor d740x 40gig, enlight 300w psu, crucial pc2100 128mb......

everything spins and lights up but no display! i thought my cpu was dead too...

i know the manual says the default setting is cpu -133 and dram - 133, but it looks like it came with the settings as dram - 133 and cpu -100

so that should work right OR am i looking at the jumpers upside down??

Just move them both over 1 pin and you are set ;) And yeah the manual has them printed backwards.

duh...i should've known better b/c i had a feeling everything looked upside down! installed winxp on it and it works like a charm! the install on winXP was a breeze too. thx for the help! :)

shootingsoftware -- you should set the dram at 133mhz and only the cpu at 100mhz

I am so glad i managed to cancel my order for the new CPU. That would have been money wasted and I would have been so mad when I found out the new one didn't work either!

So much for reading the manual carefully!

Thanks all.
