"No Disk found" installing XP on SATA disk MoBo ASUS A7N8X deluxe Rev2

Hi,

I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Rev.2 Bios Vers. 1008. Insatalling XP on a single SATA drive I choose F6 and specify te Silicon Image Driver from the Asus CD Vers.: 1.0.0.22 (the same for Vers. 1.0.0.51 from the silicon site) Installation works fine. Continuing the XP installation I get the error message "No disk found..."

Any ideas what to check? I tried different SATA cables and power cables... Perhaps the disk is not working???

Welcome to the Forums!
With that aside (😉), I don't have that board, but there are a few things you can try (if you haven't already):
1. Check to make sure the SATA ports are enabled in the BIOS.
2. If your motherboard came with a floppy with the SATA drivers on it, use that instead of the CD. Actually, if I do a fresh install of XP Pro, it ONLY lets me load SATA/RAID drivers from a floppy drive.

I'll check the ASUS site for your board, see if they have a manual and see if I can find out something else for you. Good luck!

Edit: Checked the manual and found:
1. There is a jumper for enabling the SATA ports (P. 19). It seems this is how you enable SATA, not through the BIOS. It is located below the battery, near the upper-right corner of the Sis SATA chip. Pins 1 & 2 should be jumpered to enable SATA. Oh, and you shouldn't need a driver for SATA.

Hi 2kfire!

You made my night!!! I looked into the manual but must have overlooked it. I found the entries for the SATA Controllers and how to set up raid. But nothing about the jumper.

Thanks a lot - Bolle
