I have been trying to hook up a Remote Desktop VPN system for my work but I have had nothing but problems. I need to have multiple Remote Connections connecting at the same time to my server. We have 2 offices, 1 office has the server and the other office just needs to connect to the server via Remote Desktop.

At the server office I am using a Linksys BEFSX41 Firewall Router with 4-Port Switch/VPN and Verizon DSL with Static IP. The remote office is using a Linksys BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router. So basically I need multiple users from the remote locaytion connecting to the Server via Remote Desktop connection.

Can anyone explain how to setup this type of VPN in laymens terms?

As far as the remote desktop, if your using XP, only one remote desktop will connect at a time. Please clarify if it's actually remote desktop your asking about or if it's VPN? As far as the VPN, linksys vpn routers require their proprietary software (I believe they use IPSEC) to connect to the VPN Router

The easiest way is this:

Get one more SX41 and use the web interface to setup a VPN between the two routers. The manual explains how to do this fairly easily. Each site will have its own subnet, one site will be 192.168.1.x and one will be 192.168.0.x (or whatever you want). The routers will connect automatically and you will have connection between the two sites. Once the routers are connected you will be able to use remote desktop between sites just as easily as you would between computers at the same site.

This may work with your SR41 router, but it needs to be able to run as a VPN end-point. I know that the SX41's will do this (I'm currently using them for this right now).
