Yes, I searched for the title, no I didn't get any results on "no country for old men" or "no country"

http://imdb.com/title/tt0477348/

What an awesome movie. I seriously was holding my breath for most of it. Very suspenseful, awesome characters (specially Anton), awesome story.

I highly recommend it.

Aside from good acting, I thought the movie was actually rather retarded (apologies to the retards among us). The Terminator walking around with his cow/air tank or whatever the hell it is was just ridiculous. I just don't see what everyone's panties are dropping for with this movie. It was ok, but not award worthy in my book.

This coming from a guy who does not know the proper usage of the word "Requiem". :)

I had to search for "coens".
that doesn't make any sense at all. what a great search feature on these here forums.
Advanced search works pretty well if the word is in the title. I just searched for "country"

I didn't use Advanced, I used quick... If you search for "Country" in the quick search, my thead is #1, then there are no mentions of it till page 4 where you'll find a Oscar nominations thread. Oh well.

My point is, the movie rocks. ;)

Hmm, I think adding the "no" before anything will return zero result.

I think what made No Country so damn good was how it took ideals from Western movies and turned them on their head. Take Anton. He's your typical no-nonsense cold-blooded killer.

*SPOILER*

Unlike other cold-blooded killers, his heart cannot be swayed. When Llewlyn Moss's wife begs for her life, he kills her anyway. When "experts" show up to take him down, he kills them. There is no mercy, or hope, for anybody that stands in his way.

Take Tommy Lee Jones' character. He's supposed to be the old wise cop who has everything under control. His calm, cool, demeanor means nothing because he is completely unable to save anybody.

Take Moss. He's supposed to be the reluctant hero, taking the drug money and making a fortune off of it. He should kill Anton and live happily ever after or be killed by Anton in some heroic battle. Instead, he gets gunned down in a motel by a bunch of Mexicans who find him by accident.

Fantastic! One of the best movies I've seen in a while. The story, directing, and acting were all masterful.

With that said I think Javier Bardem is probably the only one who will walk away with any hardware, unfortunately. :(

I'm reading the book right now actually. I usually don't read books after seeing the movie, but for this one I thought I'd give it a chance.

It does help clarify some areas. It's a relatively quick read, so it's worth it if you liked the movie.

I like how faithful the movie is to the book, right down to the ending.

It is called a captive-bolt gun. Seems stupid to me too. Coen brothers quirkiness i guess.

Stupid movie. It was basically real life with an evil guy, a scared guy, a bored sheriff, and lot s of blood. Who wants that? What is the point?

The ending did not translate well to the screen. Movie really slowed down during the philosophical-ish scenes.

this thread is primarily naysayers while the other thread if I remembered were mainly people talking about how good the movie was.

I liked the movie.
