No com port...

I bought a ups and it connects to my computer through a 9-pin serial com port... I don't have support for one on my mobo (Abit AN8-Ultra). Is there any option other than buying a usb-to-serial converter? Or is that the only option other than buying a different ups.

not sure of the pricing of these things but they would work if usb isnt an option. its an addin pci card with serial ports. http://www.quatech.com/products/serialboards.php

Oh yeah. That's an option too. About the same price as the adapter.

I also have a com port adapter that attaches to a mobo (If it has com port pins). It has the same 9 pin interface that a usb and firewire ports have... Any chance that would work plugged into a usb interface? Or no...
