I would double check your connections on the s-video cable, they are notorious for showing a black and white pic when not fully connected. Just my two cents.

checked it, not the problem. Also im using the Svideo-RCA converter cable if that helps any. Also we have tried an Elsa Gladiac 920 (geforce 3) on this TV using the same cables and connectors and it works fine. Im guessing its a setting i have wrong in the drivers or something else to that effect.

update:: reverting to drivers on the disk (detonator 3s) that came with the card didnt fix the problem. And PNY no longer has a driver link on their website. Adjusting resolutions and color depths doesnt fix anything, and ive set the card manually to United states NTSC-M format in the device selection tab in the advanced settings, ive also disabled all overclocking, fsb and the video card itself, none of these have fixed it. HEEEEELP! :-(

i have a GeForce2 MX400 ... and I have this problem too with my TV-out .... the output to TV is always black and white .. i've also tried switching to NTSC and different resolutions and refresh rates without success...

have you tried plugging the cable in before turning your computer on? cause according to my manual, that's what you're supposed to do ... on my card, the manual says that it cannot do dual output (both tv and monitor) ...

I Emailed PNY tech support, here is their sorry-ass reply:

Remove drivers and reinstall.
Also try another set of drivers form this site (21.83 and up only) http://www.entcity.com/sub/drivers/nvidia.asp

That is garbage, their techs should know something about this, and their driver link on their site links you to NVIDIAs detonator driver download, which explicitly say that they dont support add on features like TVout and DVI, i tried them anyway and they dont work, i also tried all the drivers on the linked site. most of them dont work at all, out of the 2 there that do work, they are still black and white.

i just emailed them again about it, saying the drivers didnt fix the problem, heres their reply.

No I don't think it's a driver.
I think the card needs to be replaced.

You can swap your video card out either at the point-of-purchase (if it is within the 30 day exchange period). If you need warranty service, you will need to call in for an RMA#. Unfortunately, this matter cannot be dealt through e-mail. We will test the card and exchange it after we are finished. If you decide to call us, make sure that you have the video card around just in case we need more information

The number is 888-316-1193

Live calls are taken from 9AM - 7PM Monday To Friday Eastern Time.

most of the NVidia detonators that arent manufacturer specific still have TV Out support built into them.
