I have no idea about these cards, some guy ask me at work on what to get.

One is like 250, the higher 780 is like 500. He said something about not getting samsung ram on them. Is there a huge difference or just tell him to buy the more expensive card. Anything new coming out soon that I can have him wait ?

The 780 is obviously faster, but not even close to twice as fast. Some people are willing to spend LOTS of money for a small increase in performance. Unless your friend has money to burn, tell him to get the 760, or even 770.

The problem here is that you have no idea what he wants or needs.

If he asked you what car he should buy, the Honda Accord or the Lexus SUV, how could you even answer that? Does he want good gas mileage and resale, or a luxury grocery-getter and kid hauler?

Same issue here, we don't know what he plans to use the card for. But this could be very telling, in that if he doesn't know exactly what he needs, then he won't be able to appreciate the difference between them.

If either card is the same to him, then definitely tell him to buy the cheaper card. It's still an excellent card he can enjoy.

I'm completely baffled about the statement about Samsung memory. Where did that even come from, why does he care about the memory type?
