No clue about Laptops

I've done plenty of research when buying my computer but my boss wants to buy a notebook which I have absolutely zero knowledge in. Main things I am looking for is:

1) Performance
2) Durability
3) Visibility (ie: good screen resolutions, brightness, readability, size, etc)
4) Portability

He will be doing zero gaming on it so a nice graphics card is not a requirement nor even something he would want to spend extra money on. I don't really have a price range on what he wants to keep it at but something that is a great bang for the buck and around $1500.00 or less. Can someone recommend some models that would fall within what I am looking for. Thanks.

T-series is the IBM flagship. if size matter, go with x series. you can still play some games on the lappy. ut2k4 demo runs fine on mine. 🙂

I am in the same boat, finding a new laptop for my boss.

Her Husband is also helping, but doesn't seem to be as up on things.

Anyway, my question to you all.

What exact model would you recommend for my boss in the $1,500 range?

I meantioned the IBM T30, as I found it for a great price and the reviews couldn't be any better. He said he thinks the G Series would be better. They're heavy though, and probably more power than she even needs. She runs a database program, Lotus Notes, Office, Acrobat, and some corporate applications (nothing major).

Let me know! Thanks.

I would only consider T or X series from IBM. T40/41 may be a few hundred dollars out of your range. G-series is more for home user. it is not bad to get the x40. the size and weight kill all! x40 will have enough power to do those things. it is for $1500 too.

Thanks for the info.

She really wants at least a 14' screen so I think the x30 is out.

I am going to talk her into getting a T.

Any other advice would be great. thanks.

Well, that is obviously and outstanding deal and if it were June I would buy it for myself.

There is no way my boss will by a system from an individual though 🙁
