Try again.

That wasn't the question. The claim was that all of Abramoff's money went strictly to Republicans, which is false.

You're making a distinction that doesn't exist.

Abramoff was a lobbyist. Whether the money came from his own pocket or one of his clients is of no merit. It is all in the big pool referred to as "Abramoff's Money".

if you guys would not deal in absolutes so much, you would really fight less.

Avoid words like "all", "none", "always", "never". When in a realistic context, sentences containing these words are very rarely true, as the world is often not black - and - white. Absolute declarations only serve to encourage nit-picking (usually to "prove" a partisan point), while at the same time, bypassing any real conversation about the topic at hand. Nit picking is a damn waste of almost everybody's time, and most of us don't want to read it.

I seriously doubt it will have any effect on the teachers who probably vote Democratic 93% of the time every four years like clock-work.

This is just outright disgusting.

I'm all for Teachers getting properly compensated but not not bribed for their votes.

This is 110% BRIBERY FOR THEIR VOTES, period.

I hope they don't fall for this and vote Republican.

The whole NCLB as far as I have seen is a scam and sham.

10-24-2006 Ohio teachers get pre-election bonuses

The first federal bonuses to reward teachers who raise student test scores have gone to four of Ohio's biggest, poorest and most academically challenged districts ? where teacher pay is already well above the state average.

Schools in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo will share the Ohio grants.

The bonuses, totaling $20 million over five years, were announced Monday, just two weeks before the challenging election for Republicans.

They were the first of 16 state grants that the Bush administration is doling out this year, which will total $42 million.

South Carolina also is to receive grants but the other states that will benefit haven't been announced.

Ohio Democrats are poised to retake the governor's office after 16 years of GOP control, and two-term Republican Sen. Mike DeWine (news, bio, voting record) is in a tight race with Democratic challenger Sherrod Brown.

Man, I don't understand why teachers continue to vote for democ-rats. They get a bonus for their hard work and they are accused of being bribed. Very insulting.

The teachers will continue to vote Democrat, and they'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
