My cd drives are not recognized by my computer. They don't even open! The pwr connecter is in right. Also the ATA cable is in right. I am using a rounded ata cable. What is wrong with my drives??

Hi, If it never worked you may have set Master/Slave and some round cables are Cable Select. If that's the case try setting CS on both drives on the cable. CS cables usually have color coded connectors and position on the cable sets which is C: and which is D: etc. Luck, Jim

Both are on CS

If one drive on the ATA Bus is set to master/slave and the other sharing that ribbon/bus is set to Cable Select then one or both of the drives will not be visible to the computer.

Ran into the same problem when I tried connecting my LG DVD burner and my mobile rack. The Burner was recognized and my mobile rack wasn't.
Had mobile set to CS, and resolved the problem by switching to slave (round cables).
