No case computer?

Theoretically, you could hook up your mb, cpu, and all that without a case, and it would work fine, right? would there be any advantages to this? (better air circulation?)

No advantages really except it saves a few bucks.

In a well made case, air will circulate just as good. Air will be forced over hot parts cooling them down. if just out in the open with no fans, they will not be as cool.

Also, you have the problems of people/pets touching the wrong thing and breaking your stuff. Not cool.

The possibility also exists that the old lady or the neighbors may come looking for you because their favorite soap opera is getting wiped out on the TV due to EMI.

Hardware techs almost always use mobos with no cases to test and troubleshoot hardware because it makes hardware changes so much faster.

No other real advantages though. In fact, a disadvantage might be that it puts lots of stress on the connectors on the mobos and the card in the slot. When it is in a case, it is screwed in so that alleviates the stress on the card/connector.
