No Canon printer drivers for x64!

Canon hasn't released any printer drivers for Windows XP x64, and according to something I read recently, they "have no plans to in the immediate future". I'm trying to install my PIXMA IP5000. Does anyone have this printer and know if there are any 3rd party drivers that work?

Thanks.

They did create drivers for older canon printers which actually work in some cases. The word is to load the BJC-8000 driver manually and you get some print ability.

Yes, the BJC-8000 driver seems to be a great catch-all for Canon printers that do not have any X64 drivers... BUT there is still no fix for some of the missing things for my Canon printer. I have an i470D, which has a built in Card Reader slot, but there is no X64 driver for it, so I cannot use it. Also, the Easy Photo Print program that came with my printer (a truly awesome program for re-sizing and arranging photos for printing on different sizes of photo paper) will not work because the BJC-8000 is not one of the supported printers.

This REALLY sucks, because we often print pictures on the small photo paper (3x7 I believe) and without this program, there is no easy way to do it (I can still print to this size of paper in various ways, but my wife gets annoyed to no end because she cannot use it anymore)! The program itself installs fine, but it just will not work unless specific models of printer are detected -- aJC-8000 is not one of those.

On a side-note, some people at www.planetamd64.com have gotten emails from Canon stating that they are currently working on X64 drivers, and to watch for them to appear on the Canon driver site, so do not give up hope yet!
