Why is a VelociRaptor (which won't be all that much faster than a Caviar Black or other similar 7200 RPM hard drives) an optional purchase on a gaming machine that has no budget, while the drive you'll be using until/if you choose to buy a better drive? You realize the Caviar Greens are 5400 RPM drives right? Basically Caviar Blacks except they slowed them right down to save on energy costs so they will slow you down since a system is only as fast as its slowest component depending on what you do.
Also for keyboards, I have a G11 and it has the noticable depression of keys which are all backlit, also has the 18x3 programmable buttons you say you don't want/use, but I can tell you from experience it is a royal PITA to take it apart to clean properly; to this day I have yet to fully disassemble sheerly because I felt I'd break pieces off before it came apart like it was supposed to. I've read up on some other reviews of the board with somewhat similar experiences (maybe I'm just too delicate on it since everyone else manages to piece it out).
As for mice, I really do like my Microsoft Sidewinder, other people think the G5/Razer mice are a lot better but this is one component, where if you're investing more than $20 in you should go to a store nearby and try playing around with display samples. Different mice feel/perform differently according to how you use it/grip so you might end up loving a mouse everyone else says is a piece of crap.
Other than that your choice of parts is nice for the system you're trying to build in the end, really look into the hard drives though.
