The aspect ratio doesn't matter.

Even a 2 year old computer can push 1280x1024 no problem.

That computer is a complete waste without a monitor that can do 1080P IMO.
 
I officially hate the term bottleneck. bottleneck this, bottleneck that, I think anybody can figure out that a Pentium D doesn't complement a hd4870x2 all that well. Nor does a voodoo 5 5500 make much sense when paired with an overclocked i7 for gaming. IF you pick a fairly highend card and cpu obviously you aren't going to be missing out on much.

On the other hand your system should play everything maxed out for a while to come on that meaty 1280x1024 monitor 😀

NO MORE BOTTLENECK THREADS!!!!!!!! or else!! =)

I recommend you save up for an HDTV to game on, it's awesome.

Whatever you do, don't upgrade your CPU or GPU until you get a better display. :beer:
