started up new system posted once with alot of errors hdd errors, chassis intrusion error, fan error, then went to monitor screen test nothing will come up on screen just screen test. light is on mobo, fans are spinning, hds sound like there humming, video card fan is spinning. tried resetting cmos nothing. so i rma the mobo sending it out monday should i also rma the cpu? if system is powering up is the cpu ok? do u think the video card is to blame? what is the bare minimum you can have hooked up in order to post? im trying to troubleshoot. thinking about taking video card to someone to plug in and see if they get a display?

Check the manual for jumper settings to turn off chassis intrusion detection. Check jumpers on HDD's (some legends are upsided down on Maxtor's). Try a different fan for the cpu plug (one with high rpms, but not high power draw). Hook internal pc speaker up to mobo for beep codes.

yeah, check the jumpers for the cpu if the board has them. check the HDD ones, make sure you don't have 2 drives fighting for master. reset the CMOS jumper to clear any and all settings and try it again. reseat the ram, cpu & video card. bare minimum the pc needs to boot up is the cpu, ram & video card.

the drives are raptor sata i had only those components hooked up and only the power switch hooked up to mobo and cleared the cmos and still nothing. im gonna try to take the memory and video card somewhere to get tested to see if they work. im trying to narrow it down to cpu or mobo.

How 'bout you list some specs?

I'd hold up a bit on RMAing everything till proper troubleshooting is done. Unnecessary RMAing just drivers up hardware prices for everyone ;)

The first place to start is removing the mobo from case (elimintes possibility of case short), place it on a phonebook next to the case and hook up the psu. Install only CPU (plus HS+F), ram and vid card in mobo. Hook up monitor, KB & mouse and see if it'll POST properly.

If that's a go, add other components one at a time. once everything then checks out I put it in the case.

List some specs please. If you have the Asus A8V with Athlon 64 3400+ combo then you need to flash the 1009.002 bios that can be found at ftp.asuscom.tw

the only thing i can think of i did totally wrong is my raptors came with a blue sata wire that had the data and power on one wire going to mobo maybe that fried it? the tech at wd said try it if ur hds dont spin up then use sata data and molex connector. do u think i fried my cpu it never got hot enuff where i could not touch it i mean it really didnt turn on? could the video card be bad?

i just called called fed ex to rma the mobo to newegg im hoping thats all i need
