Got a strange problem here...
I have a standard PC, Win XP SP2, and my video card is an 8600GT. I believe I'm using some random drivers....Nvidia Control Panel says version 1.4.13.09. I'm also seeing version 6.14.11.6218 in the system info.
I have my computer hooked up via DVI-1 to my Dell 24" 2405fpw and the DVI-2 has a DVI->HDMI adapter, sending a long HDMI cable over to my gorgeous Sony XBR4. Note that Sony does not have a DVI port and the VGA does not allow 1920x1080, thus the DVI->HDMI connection.
Since the Dell can NOT produce a proper 1920x1080 image, in order for all of this to work, the ONLY way for it to work, is to have the Sony as the primary monitor and the Dell as the secondary (cloned). The Dell appears shrunk vertically of course, but it puts up a perfect picture on my Sony.
So what I've BEEN doing when I want to watch movies on my TV is choosing Clone in the nvidia panel, with the Sony as the primary, and then when I'm using my computer from my Dell, I choose Single with my Dell as primary.
Here's the problem...
No matter what the nvidia panel is set to if I leave the DVI->HDMI plugged in, have my Sony OFF, and then shutdown and restart, the following happens:
1) Dell displays nothing
2) Computer boots and then reboots and then reboots, etc - I see nothing.
If I remove the HDMI from the DVI adapter, computer boots fine.
Any thoughts on how to fix this so I can always have my HDMI in?
