Just tried to upgrade my CPU from a Athlon 1.33 to a 2100+ and the computer is not booting. The power does come on, but the monitor is not receiving a video signal. Here's my setup:

Asus A7M266
1.07 BIOS
All settings a set to JumperFree
1.33 Ghz CPU
Changed "SK Slew Rate" from 3 to 1

The above setup above worked just fine when my 1.33 CPU was installed, but when I dropped in the 2100+, the computer wouldn't bring up the boot up screen.

Question:

- According to the Asus website, this setup should work with the 2100+, right?

- Anyone else out there experience this issue?

- Should I attempt to manually configure the CPU settings instead of JumperFree? If so, what would be the proper settings?

TIA,

Did you clear the cmos? Make sure your video card is firmly in the slot.

Clear my CMOS? Hmm. What's the easiest way to do that? Remove the battery?

I did download my BIOS upgrade severl times to make sure it took.

Video card is firmly in place - when I drop my 1.33 GHz CPU back in, everything works again.

Thanks,

Hmm. Such as, dropping it in another motherboard that's already set up to handle a 2100+? No, unfortunately not. But I am starting to question if the CPU was DOA.
