No black NASCAR drivers?

You mean black hockey players like Jarome Iginla, Evander Kane, PK Subban, Johnny Oduya, Mark Fraser, Manny Malhotra, Kyle Okposo, Bryce Salvador, Nigel Dawes, Wayne Simmonds, Anthony Stewart, Mike Grier, and Dustin Byfuglian?

The NHL has remarkable diversity considering the sport is only natively popular in areas that have frozen winters.

Man, that's some last name he's got there...😀

OK you mention 14 visibles out of 800 NHL players and you included pretty much all races. Hardly an endorsement however its another sport that takes specialization at younger ages and opportunity and has significant costs. I spend at least 1000 a yr on minor hockey "10 yr old" for basic league level and thats cheap compared to lots of places

The guys I mentioned are stars, skill players, or experienced roll players (except Mark Fraser who I included because he's on the Devils). And they are all of black african decent. Wikipedia lists 29 active black players http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ice_hockey_players_of_black_African_descent

Pretty damn good considering that's 5% of the 600 odd "regular" nhlers

(12f +6d + 2g * 30 teams)

So I'm watching a show on Speed about NASCAR and I realized, there aren't any black NASCAR drivers! I can't remember ever seeing one. Am I wrong? Is it the whole redneck thing? I'm sure being a black man in a stadium full of racists is probably the last place you'd want to be, lol. You'd be in a 180 mile an hour car though, so a fast getaway is a sure thing.

Anyway, I'm not tryin' to be racist here. It's just really surprising. We've got black golfers, black tennis players, a black president even. I guess it's surprising in this day in age we haven't see it yet.

Why don't you stop worrying about race (skin color type, not motorsport type)?

Your statement is completely assinine and reeks of stupidity.
Since you asked a stupid question here is the stupid answer.
Because you can't fit 24" spinners on a stock car.

I'm not trying to be racist here, but how many black people do you know that like to drive fast? Most that I know like to roll around slow with their music cranked and huge rims so everyone notices them.

To anyone saying ignore people's races: you can ignore them all you want, but that doesn't make everyone the same. You're just as bad as everyone else if you can't look at other people, realize that they are different, and embrace it. Pretending that people aren't different isn't going to solve anything.

People have different cultures and ways of doing thins which is what makes us so interesting.

Hmm, black people like to drive around the block over and over in old low tech cars that look nothing like stock, sounds like they'd do really well in NASCAR.

Explain your statement...? Would be like me saying Nascar`s drug policy is what keeping black drivers out of the sport...? Would like to point out as many others have money plays a big role in this but there have been several black drivers no doubt... I did find it ironic that Bill Lester drove in Nascar but was for Waste Mgt. (garbage truck company) of all things...? But will also say if you look close at the Nascar officals you may notice several of them are black and do a great job... Would like to see more diverse backgrounds in the sport though...

If you're not familiar with the lack of racial diversity in Nascar, and it's reputation for racial intolerance, you're either 10 years old or you just started following the sport within the last 2 years. I'm not saying the sport is still as bad as its reputation would imply, but they were sued less than 3 years ago, and settled out of court after disciplining multiple officials. So it is obvious there is still truth to the reputation and that some of the culture still lingers within the sport.

This is simply how it is:

Black dudes just don't do round track racing that much. That is the reason. Your pool of potential candidates that might have a black driver who turns out good enough for the big leagues is simply microscopic, compared to whites.
Go to a race anywhere, and you won't see very many black people there ever as spectators.

However, go to the drag strip and you'll see PLENTY of black guys there. They are really into that.
I know loads of black guys who drag race. I don't think I've ever known any that do round track.

It's that way back and forth in all sports.

Go to the local playground where there are plenty of all races living nearby, and you'll see primarily black kids playing basketball.

Go to the soccer fields and you'll see primarily hispanics.

Go to softball games and it's mostly white.

Go to track meets, and it's mostly black in the sprints, with more whites doing the longer distance runs.

Go to the bowling alley, and you'll see plenty of black people bowling.

And so on, and so on.

Just how it is.

And Where are the "Transgendered" Race car Drivers!!!

Yeah but black guys don't like cold so hockey is prolly out.

Get some white folks in the NBA and College Basketball and then get back with us...

The Afro population in the US is 12%--Afroes MUST be limited to 12% of the NBA.

There is no Bill Lester

That's obviously Kyle Petty with a thicker 'stache, no beard, a deep tan, driving a pickup. That picture was photoshopped.

We shall overcome...
