So i have had this board for a couple years now, i think, and hav not had any problems with it. Right now, when i turn the computer on, the error LED thing on the board shows FF, which means there is nothign wrong. However, when i do turn it on, the monitor does not show the bios post. It is not my videocard because i tried it in another computer and it worked. The reason i think it is my mobo is because i treid a different video card and it did the same thing. I also unplugged anything that wasnt necessary and that did not help. I looked around on my mobo and found a couple leaking caps. Do you think that themobo is dead? I have overclocked this board, but nothing dramatic. Never went over 1.8 volts.

1. Mobo will turn on but wont post
2. Not videocard
3. leaking Caps
4. Overclocked, but not over 1.8v

Is my mobo dead?

Thanks guys

I lost an 8RDA to leaking caps with similar symptoms. It was out of warranty by a month, so I threw it away and got an Abit NF7-S v2 instead, but now I'm told that Epox supposedly would have fixed it anyway. It could be worth asking, though the chances could be less now that the board is a few years old.

yeah epox will definitely replace it if you have bad caps, and will send you a refurbished working version of your current board or better with high quality caps. I think that is most likely the obvious source of your troubles. Cheers!

My Epox 8RDA board was sent back to Epox under RMA, which cost me $17 total. They have received it as of 2 days ago so I'm interested in seeing if they replaced the one bad cap or ALL of the caps. One cap appeared to have the slightest bulge in it so I might not be out of the woods yet, but $17 for that general repair it is a good deal in my book as long as I get at least a year out of it.

As arswihart mentioned, I should expect a refurb board and not my same board, so I'm hoping that the cap issue is a thing of the past. I bought a northbridge cooling fan to replace the passive heatsink and would like to see 3200+ out of my 2500+ Barton.
