I installed the mininum to get things going. I did this in the case. The power turns on, the green LED on the case turns on but I get nothing on the screen but the VGA Monitor self test
I get NO beeps at all

I installed
Duron 950
KS75A Latest revision (108)on the bios
PC 133 128 MB Corsair CAS 2 (this goes in the black RAM slots, correct)

Radeon 7000 AGP

I did the Power LED 2/3 pin fix

Case
[L]http://www.componentauthority.com/enfilsercasf.html[/L]

It came with an Enermax EG301-PV(B) as oppossed to an EG301-PV(E) PSU. According to Enermax it is a ATX +12V series PSU. It also has *Cable-tube-tied and gold-plated connectors for EG301P-VB only. What is this

Here is its specs

I forgot to mention that the only way I can get the system to power off is to use the switch on the back of the case

When I press the reset button it remain on

I took out the Video card ... no beeps
I cleared CMOS .... no beeps

Is the PSU sufficient

How do I turn on the system if I put it out of the case and on the MB carton

Where could shorts happen. Should I use the backplate that came with the MB or case. How do I take out the one in the case, if I should replace it. Should I not use a back plate

Hmm, dont know how much I can help you, thats kinda wierd how you have to turn it on, sounds like you don't have the power button setup properly.

The only time I have ever had no beeps at all was when I plugged my heatsink fan in the wrong plug on the mobo, it has to be in the actual CPU fan plug or the mobo might not think there is a fan, and will refuse to let it boot.

Other than that, good luck.

I had a slightly similar problem just recently when I built my new rig, but my motherboard was giving me beeps. If you haven't already, check to be certain your mobo speaker is properly connected, that is your best problem solver. It turns out my RAM wasn't properly seated and once I got it right, the screen popped up and led me to the BIOS screen.

But if your speaker is connected and still not working, perhaps the problem lies with the motherboard itself. Sorry I'm not much help.

Another thing:

Don't worry about not being able to turn off with the power button. That happened to me during my problems, but it clears once you can get to the BIOS screen. Button works fine now!

maybe your PC Speaker wires are backwards....

What's the 2/3 Power LED fix? I think i have that problem...

my pins are set up like this

1 2
3 4
5 6
7 8
9

and my power led is supposed to use 2 & 4, but the connection is 3 pins wide

How do I connect the Power LED?

If you're reading this question, is because you realized that your case has a 3 pin LED connector and the K7S5A has a 2 pin header. This is a common occurrence, since case manufacturers around the world, use different connectors. There's two easy ways of getting around this problem. One is to use some scissors and cut the LED connector in half, since only the end sides have cables connected to them. Just connect each part to one of the board pins. The other thing you can do is use a needle and push out one of the cables from inside the plastic hole. You'll see that the fine cable ends in a metal pin, just stick the metal pin into the middle hole of the connector. After that you can hook it up to the board, leaving a little bit of plastic sticking to the side

Use the needle not inside the connector but on the tab on top of it. Then the wire should just pull out

Thanks, good idea on fixing the 2/3 power problem.

Possible problems:

1. your bios is empty... possibly damage from static
2. your chipset is fried...
3. your CMOS battery is dead...
4. your computer hates you... <-- This happens to me alot...

FWIW, I had a similar problem with a machine I just put together. No beep, nothing on the monitor, couldn't POST, but the fans were whirring.

I took it apart and reassembled it. My research suggested a motherboard problem, possibly a short. I did have one or two metal standoffs under the board with no screws going into them--sorry, I don't quite understand the details of the short issue, I'm just in "try something, and if it worked, note what's different" mode, and I read something somewhere about that being a problem... so I found myself some more screws and put it back together carefully. It works now. <knocking on wood>
