NO BEEP or Boot!?!?

Hey AT Peeps,

Here's a stumper for all the techies out there. New AMD Athalon 2400, and when I push the power button...everything starts running fine(fan, lights, cd drive opens etc.). However, I never hear the "boot up" beep, and then of course..it doesn't boot up! Nothing is on the screen (checked monitor & video card). Also, the reset button doesn't work all of a sudden...as if it doesn't think the computer is on to begin with so it can't reset.

Anyone got any ideas? I could have shocked it while installing a burner...but I had this problem temporarily (until I just reset it) before I ever opened the case up! Is my motherboard shot? Or did I accidentely pull out a wire or somethin. I've got three of my friends workin on it...but they have no clue....so I turned to the experts. Help AT Peeps!

Thanks in advance..

Perhaps the power switch itself is bad, or the mobo is shorting out on the case. Try running it out of the case, using a screwdriver to short the power switch jumpers.

Pull out all the cards, disconnect drives and try powering it on. If it still doesn't work it might be a bad motherboard or the processor might be dead.

I think you have the power switch and Power led mixed up on the mobo. Or it could be reversed.
Or on some setups the Power Led connectors on the mobo has more than one set of pins , look for the positive lead usually the colored one,not the black or white one and put it on the + side as described in your motherboard manual.
Check the reset switch also, it could be reversed.
