No beep from new computer upon bootup. RECEIVED RESPONSE FROM GIGABYTE

I just built two computers using the Gigabyte GA-7VTXE+ motherboard in each. The computers are running just fine but I noticed that when I power them on there is no beep at all. I tried flipping the speaker cable that attaches to the motherboard and still no beep (on both machines). Can't find a power on self test in bios, but I think it does one by default. Shouldn't there be a beep, or do some of the newer motherboards do away with this?

there should be a beep, it is automatic on all motherboards (to my knowlege) what case is this? have you made sure that the cable connection matches the diagram in the manual? do your other buttons work/hdd light up?

It's the Enlight 7237 w/300w PSU. Everything else appears to be working just great. The speaker I am positive I have hooked the cable to the proper pins on the motherboard.

Is there a way to test the pc speaker in Windows XP?

According to this site, it looks like the beep code may have been removed on purpose. Look at #18 for the May 28 fix. Does this sound right? They purposefully removed the single beep that signals a proper startup?

first off that isn't the bios that ships with the board, second, that doesn't disable the beep associated with POST (which comes after the system has performed a test on cpu, mobo, and I think RAM) not after the hdd is detected, which may have been a separate beep on that board, I don't know why any manufacturer would deliberately disable the POST beep... are you sure the system speaker is good?

The funny thing is, I built two identical systems and neither system beeps. How can I test the PC speaker?

This might help someone in the future...

This is the response I received from Gigabyte:

The post beep has been removed on most of our boards, and will continue to
be removed on future products. There is nothing wrong with your GA-7VTXE+.

Thank you for your interest in Giga-Byte.
