No bash in Gnome in 2.6 Kernel

I just built a 2.6 kernel, it boots up fine. So I login, and startx. X runs fine, except when I try to open up a new bash terminal all I get is a blank box. Any ideas?

Is it all virtual terminals?

You have Gnome terminal, xvrt, xterm, aterm, eterm, among others.

Yeah they are all virtual terminals. Except I just get a black box, I'll post a screenshot in a sec.

EDIT: Lemme check for pty support....

I haven't (successfully, heh) gotten 2.6 working so I'm not sure, found this on google:

Go to 'Character devices', enable 'Virtual Terminal' and 'Support for console on virtual terminal'
