No audio with TV in on AIW 8500dv, any ideas?

Hi guys, I just put together a new machine:

Gigabyte 8IEXPv2
Intel 1.8A
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
ATI AIW 8500DV
Windows XP Professional

Sound works just fine on everything, but when I have the TV on, I do not get any sound whatsoever from the TV. The computer does play other sounds while the TV is on, so I do know that the AIW doesnt disable the sound card. Under the settings for the AIW TV card setup, it asks for how your sound card is hooked up to your video card. I tried all settings to see if any of them worked and I left it on the choice "Line In". I only chose that because that seemed to be the problem when peopel tried to capture their vids at ATI.com but no one seemed to have this problem just watching the videos.

I updated all the drivers already, any other ideas to what is wrong? It is not the coax cable, I did try that. Is there some sort of cable I need to buy to hook up the sound card to the video card, I defintely did not see that in the manual and neither card came with any extra audio types of cables.

Thanks

There should be a cable coming from the plug of the breakout box that has a blue end that looks like a normal audio plug - you plug that in to the aux in or microphone in or whatever input into your video card. Then, when setting up the TV you have to set where you plugged that cable into on the sound card.

See this thread for more info.

You guys rock! I was looking for a cable to hook the video card and audio card isnide the computer, like the 4 pin connector.

So I got the audio working, but I have to put it at almost full volume to hear anything 🙁 I have a 5.1 setup, ghetto rigged, 2 sets of speakers a 2.1 and a bookshelf system that gets VERY loud with normal music.

So now if I watch and and then get an instant message it shakes me and makes me deaf for a few seconds while watching tv 😱

Anyone else have the volume problem?

In the Volume Control you need to adjust the Line IN sound. When you turn the TV up or down with the remote you are only affecting the Line In. It took me a few months to get the master volume, wave, and Line In at the right settings.

The key is having the master volume lower because you can also get echos when the Line In is turned too high.
