No audio when playing dvds

I'm using both cyberlink powerdvd and wmp10 and both plays the video portion but no audio to go along with it. whats the problem?
 
Check that you don't have any audio muted under control panel > sounds and audio *assuming winXP
if possible try switching btw digital and analog audio inputs from cd playback from the drive
Can you get cd audio from the same drive?

when did the problem start?
did it work before?
what is your audio hardware? Chaeck that the drive is connected to the audio input correctly.
is your computer plugged in? - sorry
