No AGP

Hello,
For some unknown reason it appears as if I've lost AGP.I have a Viper770 Ultra AGP.I was noticing problems in a program and started investigating.WCPUID shows AGP as being disabled and when I did a check of msinfo32 it shows the AGP drivers as not installed.I have tried a number of different NVidia drivers with the same result.I am currently running DX8.0a but have the same problem with DX7.0a.I have a new vidie card on order but I'm afraid that if it's a system problem(W98) then a new card won't matter.Any help would be appreciated.

Is your video card set up to use an IRQ in the BIOS? If it is, then it sounds like you need to fully uninstall the drivers. You do it by going into the Control Panel's add/remove section, and then look for nVidia display drivers and remove them. Reboot, and install the latest reference drivers (6.50).

Been there,done that,got the t-shirt.I've tried clearing the system of every NVidia file.Clearing the registry of NVidia references,changing DX versions.I'm at a complete loss.I don't know if a Windows reinstall would help or not.I sure would like to avoid it.

Are you running it in an AMD system? If so, you need to install the AGP drivers for it.

try reinstalling your motherboard drivers and running dxdiag. one of the 2 might help out. you should be able to get the latest mobo drivers from whoever made the chipset on it.

also, make sure nothing else is trying to use the same irq as your vidcard

Flashed the bios.I was due for an update.I was sure I had done that when I upgraded my processor last April.Must be getting senile.Anyhow that didn't work.I did find a utility called AGPinfo that had switches to enable the AGP.I checked it with WCPUID ad it now shows AGP enabled.I'd like to thank you very much for your help.

The last reply should have been to you.Well no luck.It basically comes down to the fact that the NVidia AGP drivers will not install.I don't know if it's a bad card or a Windows problem.I'll probably try a Windows reinstall tomorrow.I have a new card on order which should be here next week.
