No AGP Texture Acceleration?

My woes started when I added 256MB of memory and had to remove and reseat my AGP card to put in the memory.

Now DXDiag and all DX games crash unless I disable AGP Texture Acceleration in DXDiag.

Accordining to Sandra, my AGP Bus is currently running at AGP 2x (134 MHz) speeds, side bands enabled, no fast writes, 64MB aperature size *I have all video and memory shadowing disabled in BIOS*.

System is:
Windows 98
PIII 800
Abit B6 (440BX chipset, BIOS V4.51)
384 MB 100Mhz CL2
Leadtek GeForce2 GTS 32MB *latest Detonator 3 released drivers ver 6.50*
DirectX 8.0a

I have tried my old TNT card and taken out the memory I added but still have the same DirectX AGP texture acceleration problem.

Now I am only scoring 2000 points on 3DMark2k whereas before I would get 5400 points so something is seriously wrong:Q

Any advice on how to fix the problem?

a loose rule of thumb is to set your aperture size to half of your ram and disabling sideband sometimes adds to stability.Maybe reinstalling the dx drivers and or your vid card drivers might help also.

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried reinstalling the video drivers and DirectX8. I dont see any performance changes with more than 64MB AGP size.

Where do I change the AGP speed from 2x to 1x? No option to change it in the Bios.

3dMark2k is registering my AGP card as being on the PCI bus but I think it is getting this information from DirectX as Sandra tells me I have an AGP card at 2x speed.

Doing 3dmark2k I get 2000 pts using Hardware T&L on the GeForce2. So low, I need to enable DirectX for AGP!

Again using 3dmark2k with the P3 doing Hardware T&L I get 3000 points. Still too low but better than before.

Using 3dmark2k with Voodoo II in SLI with the P3 doing Hardware T&L I get 2500 points, better than the GeForce2 :(

I need help to get AGP Texture Acceleration re-enabled.
