I have the Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound speakers. I just upgraded to a new PC. I went into the Realtek HD audio manager, and changed the speaker config from "stereo" to "5.1 speaker". When I played a DVD movie, the actor's voices were muted out, but all other sound was audible. I put if back to "stereo", so I could watch the movie. Anyone know what I should do?

I would double check your cable connections to make sure they are properly connected on both the subwoofer end as well as the computer.

Test it in the realtek hd audio manager and see if you hear everything out of the proper speakers.

Double check you software is set to playback in 5.1 as well, i know some like power/windvd if its the one that came on the computer, its limited to 2channel only.

Also, make sure the DVD movie supports 5.1.

I have the G35 headset, and if your setup has a mic that is muted, you might have to actually unmute it to enable voices in movies and games. Very strange, but this works every time.

The first DVD I watched with them, I was going crazy trying to figure out why no voices til I thought about the muted mic... pulled it down and voices instantly came through. I can reset it to the muted position after doing that, and voices will stay on.

Actually, I had to turn the Matrix button OFF to get the surround sound working. Go figure!
