There are a couple files I have on my hard drive that will not delete. I get an error stating that the file is being used by another program or user. But I KNOW it's not. I am the only user of this PC. Only one account made. Next, I have ALL programs closed and making sure nothing is hiding or running in the background. Still no dice. Actually, I think they are partially downloaded files. So they aren't even complete runnable files. I'm positive they are out of the download queue, so I'm stumped. Get these damn files off my PC!

Same thing with me. I have this file on my desktop that was partially download with Firefox. But I aborted the download because my internet connection went down and I now cannot delete it.

yep, this usually works.

just open a command prompt, then open task manager and kill explorer.exe

go to the command prompt you opened, change directory to where the file is delete file

go back to task manager, go to file then New Task (Run..) then type explorer.exe

This doesn't work for me. My old Cygwin installation still won't die. If anybody has any other suggestions, please make them.
