I get this message in the bios every single time i boot up my computer. I'm assuming this is keeping my HD from performing at its max?

Do you have an 80-wire cable with the blue connector plugged into the mobo? (40-pin connector, 80 wire cable)

You assume correctly young Jedi. You need a ATA/66/100 cable you get full performance.

Doh, I see. The blue connecter is on the hard drive rather then the mobo. Silly me.

I don't see why it matters for the blue connector to be in the motherboard...I have reversed it many times and no problem. These cables aren't you uni-directional. you should be able to put the cable with a purple connector if you wanted to.

Well I don't notice much of a perf difference. But at least that error message went away :)
