When I drop the multi to 10 or 10.5 down from 11, I get nothing. Well, nothing on 10.5. On 10, it counts the memory then it freezes. However, if I drop it to 9.5, everything works again! This is all at the same fsb and timings. Is this a problem with the cpu or the maboard? Your input is most definitely appreciated.:D:sun::cool:

Oh! Another thing. I've so far been unable to get the cpu/memory divider to work for me.

What were you expecting from a motherboard with a Via chipset?:D Besides, that chipset doesn't have a pci lock, so you will have to keep it at or slightly above either 166 or 200fsb. If you are wanting to run 210 or 215fsb, you'll need to pick up on of these: Biostar M7NCD for $53.

I meant that I have an Asus A7N8X-deluxe (rev. 2) ultra 400. I'm not talking about the fsb, I'm saying certain multipliers don't work. Specifically, the 10x and the 10.5x. I kept the fsb the same throughout testing. It was completely stable at 11x and 9.5x, but I get nothing in between. Is this the processor, motherboard, or both? I can test the cpu in another board, but all I do with the mobo is rma it.

If someone has had this problem with "unlocked" processors, or if you know the answer, please to let me know. It would save me some work, for my other pc is not assembled atm.

Hah, the truth finally comes out!;):D The 10 and 10.5x multipliers not working on some boards is something that I definitely remember reading about somewhere. There used to be an A7N8X thread over on the motherboards forum, you might want to try reading that, and posting there about not being able to use the 10x and 10.5x multis with it.

i have an unlocked 2100+ t/b and have had a dog of a time trying to run at 10x200 [and even 10x180]; there was a discussion on the nforcers hq site about these 2 multis being flakey on this board.....

Well that's just weak. Guess I better plop my 1700+A in--just to double-check. Then I'll go ahead with an rma. Does Newegg still have any of these boards? Maybe a version 3? I know, I know...this ain't the motherboard section.

This is an epox user speaking, but those multi's disappeared for us in some bios versions. Have you tried flashing to another bios version? You might check over at nforcershq on the asus forum to see which bios rev's give you back those multi's.

you stole a bit of my thunder bootoo!
apparantly those 2 multis are locked with the newer bios [wouldnt know cos i dont use it]
certainly bios 1005 is suposed to be better for overclocking; that being said, i run 1005 and still struggle as earlier.

i confess i havent bothered to run/test 10x166 or 10.5x166 to nail it being these multis at any fasb: over 180 i know i get flakey results.

also, i forgot to add that if bootoo is also noticing disabled multis then it is more likely a chipset issue than a manufacturer thing [not that i am an asus fanboy or anything].

i notice that MBM5 reads the cpu speed worng when i use a 10x multi for example it always reads 10x200 as 1538 but 9.5x200 is read fine as is all other speeds not using 10x....
