Car dealers are often advertising on the radio with "we are getting rid of our inventory and its going at only $nn over the invoice. Thats only $nn over what we pay the factory!". What does that exactly mean? I somehow don't really believe what they say.

If I say, may I see the invoice please?, what will they say?

there's a thing called "hold back" that most car brands have.

guarantees the dealer 3% (usually) assuming they sell it at invoice.

so that's how they make money off "$1 over invoice"

note: audi and bmw have no such thing :)

Why is your price a hypothetical value squared? Wouldn't it be simpler to just use n, rather than n squared?
